Hey Hydroponics Enthusiasts!
I’m thrilled to announce that our AI platform, initially for Kanana Hydro-Planters, now supports custom setups in public beta—and it’s FREE! 🎉
If you haven't heard of Kanana Gardens yet, here’s the scoop: We're on a mission to make in-home hydroponics simple (no chemistry/biology degree required).
Our first major leap is the public release of our AI platform (available in US and Canada via the Kanana Gardens App). Think of it as your trusty hydroponic buddy, helping you manage your reservoir and plant data like pH, reservoir level, and TDS (nutrient strength). It then uses this data to suggest the perfect nutrient blend for your plants.
In other words, it's time to ditch those one-size-fits-all vendor feed charts, because different plants have unique nutritional needs. For instance, tomatoes need higher nutrient concentrations (and more potassium, calcium, and magnesium) than lettuce, which prefers a balanced, lower nutrient mix. The AI knows these details and tailors nutrient solutions for a wide variety of plants. And if you've got a mixed plant setup sharing a reservoir, the AI keeps the peace by creating a balanced nutrient mix.
When you input your TDS and existing reservoir levels, the AI considers the dilution and makes precise adjustments.
You can choose between two nutrient recipe models:
AI Generated: Optimal mix based on ideal macronutrient values for each plant species, supplemented with CalMag mixtures to take into account calcium and magnesium needs.
Recommended: Based on vendor feed charts adjusted for plant strength (but not ideal NPK or CaMg values).
Currently, we support popular multi-part liquid nutrients available in the US and Canada, including General Hydroponics (FloraSeries), Advanced Nutrients (pH Perfect), HOG, Green Planet, GroTek, iDOO, Indo, Aerogarden, and Remo (see app for specifics).
The Kanana Gardens App is live in US and Canadian app stores (early release, bugs possible) with a forever free tier (12 plants / 4 hydroponic systems). We'll roll out a paid tier in July, expanding capacity and offering early access to new features.
Looking forward, we're working on an improved model to support custom nutrient sets and dry nutrients like Masterblend. It will optimize both macronutrients and micronutrients and suggest pH adjustments. This update should drop in the next 3-6 months.
We're also working to include more regional nutrients and expand globally. For now, if you’re outside of the US or Canada, you can check out the web app at kanana.ca, however please keep in mind that the supported nutrients may not be available in your region.
Stay tuned for more updates, including an in-depth overview of the app.
Happy growing!
