Hydroponic Guidance Service
Advanced Journaling and Nutrient Calculations
Jumping into hydroponics isn’t trivial, and we’re striving to make it simpler. This journaling service helps by providing the precise nutrient amounts to add—taking into account water properties, nutrient choice, and dilution—to target the ideal parameters for the plants grown.
Our gardening AI is open to any home-based hydroponics and learns through anonymized data, so it can share community successes via the recommendations it provides.
Factors and Parameters
We take all the following factors and parameters into account to build a mixture tailored to your needs.
Water Source
Every water source may contain a number of elements. For this reason, we’ll have you measure the concentration of your water source.
Every plant will have a preference as to the ratio of the elements it consumes (NPK ratio), as well as the total combined amount (TDS). As the plant moves through different stages of its life, those preferences, or target ranges, will change to satisfy the needs of its current state.
Your Plant
When refilling your reservoir, if it is not completely empty, it will likely still contain some nutrients. The amount of nutrients remaining can be indicative of what your plant needs - how much it actually is taking up and what it is leaving behind. When adding more nutrients we want to take into account the dilution with this existing mixture.
Your Plant’s Reservoir
When one reservoir is supporting multiple plants, it needs to provide a solution that is best-fit for all of the plants’ requirements.
Shared Reservoirs
Each nutrient that you use is made up of a number of macronutrients and micronutrients. The three Primary macronutrients and Nitrogen, Phosphorous and Potassium, or NPK. This ratio is typically indicated on the label of the nutrient container as a set of numbers, ie: 2-1-6. This means that the solution is made up of 2% Nitrogen, 1% Phosphorus and 6% Potassium and 91% other elements and water.
Nutrients
HOW IT WORKS
Recommended calculations are based on vendor feed charts, adjusting concentration based on your plant’s species, water parameters, dilution, target concentrations, and your chosen nutrients to ensure each mixture is tailored to your unique setup.
Recommended Engine
AI Engine (v1)
Our AI engine takes it a leap further, targeting ideal NPK (Nitrogen, Potassium, Phosphorus), Calcium & Magnesium values for the plant grown.
We have two different engines that consider the same factors and parameters, but make their calculations differently:
LIMITATIONS
Our current limitations include:
-
Nutrient support: Currently, only liquid nutrients are supported. Once we've had the chance to complete updates to and proper testing of our algorithms, solid nutrients will be supported as well. We currently support:
-
General Hydroponics (FloraSeries & FloraNova)
-
Advanced Nutrients (pH Perfect)
-
Innovating Plant Products (HOG)
-
Indo (3 part)
-
Remo (3 part)
-
Green Planet (GP3)
-
GroTek (Precision)
-
iDOO (2 part)
-
Aerogarden (2 part)
-
-
pH: We do not yet provide recommendations for buffer adjustments, however previous values are shown for guidance
-
Supplements: Our AI Engine currently supports Calcium/Magnesium supplements such as CalMag, and additional support with be coming soon.
-
Capacity: The free plan is limited to 4 custom or 3rd-party hydroponic setups with a total of 12 plants, the premium plan supports 30 setups with 120 plants
